Members of our Minnesota Region V learn leadership skills with leadership development experiences and from the example of FFA advisors and our regional and chapter officers.
At the beginning of each school year the Region V officers put on two one-day conferences. Greenhands in the Spotlight and Chapter Leader Conference. The Greenhands in the Spotlight conference is for freshman who are interested in FFA. Many FFA advisors in Region V will just bring all of their freshman agriculture students to give them a better understanding of what FFA has to offer. The Chapter Leader Conference is for chapter leaders in Region V, so chapter officers. The sessions and workshops for the chapter officers are often led by a couple FFA officers that are from the state level.
In January or February the regional officers also put on an overnight leadership conference called Leading the Challenge. All FFA members from grades 9-12 that attend are mixed up into groups for sessions. All FFA members that attend have the opportunity to go skiing or to play board games and participate in other activities. The LTC conference will be the last Saturday and Sunday in January.
FFA offers many leadership opportunities and we encourage all members to take advantage of every opportunity they are given.
